Installing SUSE Linux (SLES) on ASUS P5K SE Mainboard

Components used:
ASUS P5K SE Motherboard
Intel® Core™2 Quad Core Q6600 8MB L2 2.40 GHz 1066 MHz CPU
GigaByte ATI Radeon X550, PCI-e,128MB 64Bit, DVI
4 X 1Gb DDR2 800 PC6400 RAM
4 X Samsung 500Gb SATAII HDD's
Pioneer IDE DVD Burner, DVR-112D

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Steps so far...
(I'll expand on each step in more detail soon)

To install on ASUS MB
  • Copied DVD image on to USB hard drive.
  • Setup BIOS to boot from External Drive
  • Booted from external drive and completed installation from external drive
  • Downloaded Marvell IDE drivers from ASUS website

Followed compiling drivers preperation from Novell's Cool Solutions page http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/16340.html
Then cd to folder where I unziped Marval Driver source and ran Make command.
Ran insmod on the newly created module and now had a working IDE CD/DVD Drive.
(There are a few more steps to this that I'll expand on soon)
