Over a week ago on the 11th of August, some friends of mine put on a party at a bar in Sydney, Bar Broadway. The night was called Techno-Blueprint, an old-skool techno event. With 7 acts, consisting of 5 DJ acts, and 2 live acts. I was involved to design the lighting layout, and coordinate the setup. I basically just used the 4 Clay Paky Mini Scan HPE's which were in-house at the venue, along with a selection of Par56 Can's and 2 MoleFay's and a Geni Golden Strobe. And I also added a 1/2 Watt RGB Laser, from LaserPro. The show started at 10pm, and continued through until 5am. It was hard keeping awake at the console as 5am approched. But as each new act started I found a new burst of energy. Today I received an email from a friend with a link to a review of the night. My favourite paragraph from the review would have to be this one;- "Before getting stuck in to the music though, a little needs to be said about the production. Two words spring to mind immediately: god damn. Promoters – where’s the effort these days? Techno Blueprint put just about any current promoter to shame when it comes to extra production. The venue might have been a pretty average bar opposite UTS, but the effort that went in to the lighting and sound certainly didn’t go unnoticed by this reviewer. And the lasers were definitely the icing on the cake." I was blown away to see the comments about the lighting production. See the full review here. See some pictures here. |
